Outrider is Coming

More than a decade after the second American Civil War, a new breed of warriors, called Outriders, roam the desolate spaces between the remnants of civilization, strewn across the southwest. Anyone who seeks safe passage or parcel across this dark new frontier can hire an Outrider to act as guide, envoy and protector through the wastelands. Armed with powerful vehicles bristling with weaponry, Outriders are a brutal breed of mercenary for a brutal time.

Outrider is a game of post-apocalyptic vehicular combat that utilizes a unique blend of dice and card mechanics that create a fast-playing, highly detailed and customizable player experience.

Outrider is a print-and-play game designed to use standard-sized cards and sleeves, ordinary gaming dice and has a ready-made range of the most inexpensive miniatures around: 1/64th scale die cast cars.

I had a chance to  play an early test version of Outrider in 2010 and I must admit I am excited.  Gregg Lewis at DiceFestGames has a very clever game in development and I am looking forward to it’s release.  If all goes well you will be able to find it for sale at onebookshelf.com sites (i.e. rpgnow, wargame vault, etc) near the end of January 2011 as a print and play product.  I will post links once the game has been released.

Once Outrider v1.0 has been released I plan to use the rules for my BattleMachines project.  I have a number of the Jada cars (advertised as 1:64 scale but actually closer to 1:55 scale) just waiting for some vehicular mayhem.

There is a discussion about different diecast scales at the Lead Adventures Forum here.  I copied a scale comparison picture courtesy of Puuka at LAF , posted below.  (EDIT)  I was informed the picture below originally came from this site http://jptrostle.com/.

More information will follow once Outrider is available.  Cheers.
