Geezers! Shut It! – Masked Blaggers, Slags and Scrotes

My Geezers miniatures are back from Pictors Studio so this will be the first of several posts on my new project for 1970s era cops and robbers games.  The miniatures and rules all come from Killer B Games under their Geezers! “Shut It!” system.  The rules are quite clever and are based on shows like The Sweeney, a British crime drama about two members of the Flying Squad, a branch of the Metropolitan Police specialising in tackling armed robbery and violent crime in London.  The series was named after Sweeney Todd, which is Cockney rhyming slang for Flying Squad.

A brief description of the game copied from the Killer B site is below.

Geezers!  “Shut It! “ – The 1970’s, forget Star Wars and Disco, “Geezers! Shut it!” is a set of rules that is your ticket back in time. Back to those halcyon days when men were men and a pint cost 18p. It is the time of kipper ties, where Police equipment includes pick axe handles, revolvers and bacon sarnies, it is the time of “GEEZERS! SHUT IT !!” a set of 28mm skirmish rules for Cops and Robbers on the streets of 1970’s Britain. So shut it son! and ‘ave a butchers at this!………………….Includes rules for Briefs, Court,Car Chases and Police Interviews. Also includes no less than three scenarios to get you started on your blags. Diamond!

There is also a 1980s expansion for anyone jonesing to play Miami Vice or Magnum PI based skirmish games.  It is called Vice Palms and a brief description follows.

Vice Palms 1980’s Expansion for Geezers! Shut it! – When you played Geezers!”Shut it!” you played like men,you scoffed bacon butties and called each other Slag! Or Guv’nor. You wore kipper ties and reeked of Brut. Well you can throw your socks away, because it’s now the 80’s, and 80’s men don’t wear them anymore. Forget your pints and your bottles of scotch, pour yourself a cocktail. Got a paisley shirt and beige action slacks? Take ’em down the charity shop and trade ’em in for a Hawaiian shirt or a shiny suit (Remember to roll your sleeves up.) and if you’ve got a mode of transport,be it an Audi Quatro,Jet Ranger or Super Tuff Burner, then get it kitted out with it’s own Hi-Tech computer system and preferably it’s own artificial intelligence. Now you are ready for gaming Cops and Robbers in the 1980’s Features Rules for: Helicopters,Speed Boats,Heavy Weapons,Private Eyes and Undercover Vice cops. **NOT AVAILABLE FOR THE COMMODORE 64 OR ZX SPECTRUM**

The rules look solid and have some clever sections for collecting evidence during the skirmish, as well as pre-game and post-game play that includes the use of crimial/police informants and legal procedings in the British court system.  I am really looking forward to giving this game a try.  Below are several pictures of the first round of miniatures.  Some masked blaggers, slags and scrotes.

As part of my Geezers project I have collected several period cars in 1/43, 1/48, and 1/50 scales.  Unfortunately, the majority of the autos are of US manufacture.  Fortunately, they are mostly cool ones like the Pontiac Firebird and GTO.  Miniatures are included for scale and reference.

More to follow.  Cheers.
